Even churches are not safe from burglars these days.
The Grace Christian Assembly church in San Antonio was burglarized over the weekend and several items and coins worth over $4,000 were stolen.
The Department of Public Safety has yet to release information about the burglary.
Alain Nunez, a pastor of Grace Christian Assembly, confirmed with Saipan Tribune yesterday that he discovered the break-in when he went to the church on Saturday at 6am for morning prayers.
Nunez said he noticed that a ladder was in the middle of the church while a monitor and projector were missing.
Stolen were four speakers, two projectors, an Acer desktop computer, a 24-inch computer monitor, a 32-inch Panasonic flatscreen TV, an Alvarez acoustic guitar, food in packages, and a children’s piggy bank containing $100 to $200 in coins.
The burglar/s gained entry by detaching the window grills in the women’s restroom at the back of the church. The same suspect/s used the same restroom’s window as the exit point. The church’s door has double locks.
Nunez said police responded and investigated the incident.
He said the owner of the land where the church is located saw a group of teenagers hanging around on Friday at about 8:30pm and told them to leave.
