Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Victor B. Hocog, through the Department of Commerce’s Central Statistics Division, announced yesterday the release of the 2015 CNMI Statistical Yearbook.

The yearbook is a comprehensive annual publication on a wide range of topics covering the CNMI’s demographics on health, education, labor force and employment, income, public safety, trade, prices and other related statistics mandated by the Statistical Act.

Commerce Secretary Mark Rabauliman said the yearbook includes data that encompasses statistics pertinent to the population and economy.

“It’s a report that’s long overdue and I am pleased with its final publication. In its 27 years of existence, 23 years of the Statistics Office have been marked by unique and valuable statistics for publication. This edition is organized in a consistent table format including charts, maps and a conversion table between the English and the metric systems for those who may need it,” Rabauliman said.

Torres said the report is a valuable addition to tracking the CNMI’s economic growth.

“This is great news as we have not had this important report published for quite some time now and I am elated to be able to finally get this out for our stakeholders. I commend all who contributed data to this publication and encourage them to continue to collaborate with our Statistics Office to ensure that data is provided for the upcoming annual publications,” Torres said.

The department acknowledges the contributions of the many departments, agencies, and partners as well as the technical assistance and expertise provided by Dr. Michael Levin in compiling and publishing this report. Additionally, the department also commends the extra efforts by the Statistics Division staff in ensuring that this 11th Edition of the CNMI Statistical Yearbook is published.

The Consumer Price Index revisions and corrections for 2014 third and fourth quarters and 2015 first quarter have also been released with the rest of the CPI report to be updated in the coming weeks.

All published statistical reports can be accessed via the department’s website at www.commerce.gov.mp.
