Twin wins for MP United
MP United Football Club opened its campaign in the 2017 NMIFA Youth Spring League with a pair of victories last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.
In the boys U17 division morning match, MP United shut down Kanoa FC, 6-0, while in the afternoon tiff for the co-ed U12 age group, the former edged Kanoa 2, 6-4.
Kristopher Pascual and Andrew Chung scored two goals apiece in MP United’s second-debut win against Kanoa in the co-ed U12 division. Ryan Pangilinan and Garette Weaver chipped in one goal each. Ronian Laxamada tallied all goals of Kanoa FC.
Pascual hit the board first with his shot in the 12th minute, while Laxamana made the equalizer a minute later. Pascual got another one in the 25th minute, while Chung duplicated the latter’s feat with his conversation in the 22nd and 28th minute, and Pangilinan recorded his lone goal in the 23rd for MP United’s 5-1 halftime edge.
In the second half, MP United was silent for a while, while Laxamana gave Kanoa two more goals (40th and 48th minute) to keep his team in the game, 3-5. Laxamana made four in a row with his shot in the 53rd, but still Kanoa failed to overhaul the deficit, while Weaver handed MP United its lone goal in the second half (52nd minute).
In the boys U17 division, MP United was also in control of the match after drawing goals from five different players. James Kim registered two goals for MP United, while Sunjoon Tenorio, Skyler Poon, Joshua Abragan, and Chris Aninzo logged one each.
In other results, fall season champion Kanoa 1 was on target en route to a 14-8 victory over TanHoldings FC in the co-ed U12 division.
Jim Kurt Maniago and Markus Toves scored three goals apiece for Kanoa, while Sean Gil, Joe Amil Antonio, and Daniel Mark Pablo chipped in two each. Also making it to the board for the winning squad were Andrew Sablan and Jerome Quidato.
Angelo Pulido had a hat trick for TanHoldings in a losing effort. Anthony Bergancia recorded two, while Christian Domulot, Anthony Austria, and Ariel Narvaez contributed one each.
TanHoldings earlier won its first game of the season in the boys U17 division after slipping past Matansa FC, 2-1.
Mark Esalan made the game-winning goal in the 54th minute. John Michael Rojas scored the other goal for TanHoldings in the 19th minute, while Matansa’s lone goal came from Ray Herbass Lieto four minutes earlier.
