Registration for the Saipan Major League’s 18U Triple-A Championship Summer Baseball League is ongoing today from 10am to 1pm at the pavilion behind the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The league is open to players ages 15 to 18, meaning anyone turning 18 as of this year is eligible to participate. Players turning 19 this year are outside the cutoff date.

The Division of Youth Services is teaming up with the SMLBA to put on the league, which is scheduled to kick off on Aug. 3 at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

Between six and eight teams are expected to suit up for the competition and five teams have already showed early interest in participating.

Parents are urged to accompany their children to registration along with birth certification and health insurance documents to the registration.

Also today, the SML’s first youth baseball clinic is set to take place and will continue next week leading up to opening day.

The purpose of the youth clinic is to prepare the players for the tournament and help cultivate a competitive start out of the gate.

The SML wants to send out a big thanks to DYS for helping make the program possible.

For more information, contact SML’s sports and development officer Tony Rogolifoi at 788-3966 or Patrick Tenorio at 483-6764.
