Accusations that she is having an affair led a 44-year-old man to allegedly choke his wife, point a crowbar at her, and threaten to kill her in Susupe last week.

Jose Sanggalang Mangundayao was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, criminal mischief, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $5,000 cash; preliminary hearing is on Feb. 9 at 9am.

Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed counsel for Mangundayao. Assistant attorney general Shannon Foley appeared for the government.

Two police officers responded to a domestic violence call at a poker arcade on Texas Road in Susupe last Monday, Jan. 30, at 7:49pm. The victim was reportedly shaking and crying as she approached the police vehicle near LJ Store.

Police arrested Mangundayao that same night.

The victim told police that Mangundayao took a crowbar, pointed it at her, threatened to kill her with it, and strangled her. She bruised her left arm during the struggle. He allegedly hit their TV with the crowbar. She managed to run outside, where she called the police.
