Water outage yesterday in Kagman
There was a temporary water service interruption yesterday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2017 in the Kagman I, II, III and IV areas, from 2:30pm to 12am. Customers in the affected areas should expect restoration of services soon thereafter. The purpose for the interruption was to repair a leak on the 8-inch transmission line that is connected to the 1 million gallon tank. Water Operations personnel of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. discovered the leak when conducting leak detection services. For more information, contact the CUC Customer Call Center (664-4282. Preparations underway for this year’s MMAC
The Marianas March Against Cancer planning committee’s Subcommittee on Recruitment would like to remind team captains that Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, will be their first meeting for the upcoming annual event to be held on May 12, 2017, at Hopwood Middle School in Chalan Piao. 13th Hot Pepper Festival this Feb.
The 13th Tinian Hot Pepper Festival on Feb. 18-19, 2017, will again have ferry service between Saipan and Tinian this yea Festival times will be from 2pm to 11pm on Feb. 18 and from 11am to 11pm on Feb. 19.

Ferry service aboard the Super Emerald will be available on Feb. 17-20, 2017. Round trip cost is $15 (0-2 years old), $30 (3-11 years old), and $35 (age 12 and older). For one way, the cost will be $8 (0-2 years old), $15 (3-11 years old), and $18 (age 12 and older).

Passengers are allowed up to 70 lbs of cargo, including bicycles (a $10 fee will be charged for additional cargo). The ferry schedule will be announced shortly.

To support the festival, Star Marianas Air will also extend scheduled flights to 9:30pm on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18.

Become a Reading Ranger at AMP
The American Memorial Park is inviting first to third graders on Saipan to participate in this year’s first Reading Ranger selection. Over three days, Feb. 7, 8, and 9, from 3pm to 4:30pm, young readers will be guided through The Unbreakable Code by Sara Hoagland Hunter by a park ranger.

Scheduled power outage tomorrow
There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, from 6am to 11am to de-energize the primary lines to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to safely change out wooden power poles to concrete along Flame Tree Road in Dandan. This is an effort to strengthen and harden the integrity of the distribution circuit.

Areas to be affected are Dandan Flame Tree Rd. (Gatbo Av., Tasi Ln., Tasi Dr., Fiesta St., Beach Av., and Sand St.), Hawaiian Rock Quarry, and Naftan Road (Obyan Beach Dr., Dela Concepcion Dr., and Santa Margarita P1.). The Obyan water well will be affected.

Military, communities partner to clean up Eagle’s Field
MANGILAO, Guam—A cleanup event will be held at Eagle’s Field in Mangilao from 9am to noon, Feb. 3.

The cleanup is a joint effort between the Mangilao Mayor’s Office, members of the military, a military spouse organization, and the community.

All members of the community are invited to attend. Volunteers will be picking up trash and sorting recycling to be donated to local schools. All volunteers are asked to bring a reusable water bottle. Water refills, gloves, and bags will be provided at the event. (PR)
