The CNMI’s Carol Lee earned 30 more ITF Juniors ranking points after completing her participation in the 2017 Tecnifibre Tennis Central Championships at the Renouf Tennis Centre in Wellington, New Zealand last weekend.

Lee collected 20 points for her semis appearance in the singles event of the Grade 4 tournaments and added 10 for making it to the quarterfinals of the doubles. Earlier this month, she was also awarded 30 points for advancing to the semis (doubles) and Round of 8 (singles) of the Wilson Tennis Canterbury ITF held in Christchurch.

The 15-year-old Lee settled for the third most points awarded in the singles play as she dropped her semifinals game last Friday. No. 3 seed Risa Fukutoku defeated the CNMI bet in the battle for the finals berth at the lower half of the draw, 6-4, 6-2, to set up an all-Japanese finale against Mana Kawamura. The top-ranked Kawamura went on to clinch the singles championship after sweeping Fukutoku, 6-3, 6-4, in last Saturday’s title match and the former also won 40 ranking points against the latter’s 30.

The two Japanese later claimed additional 30 points each for ruling the doubles event. Kawamura and Fukutoku beat Hong Kong’s Justine Sophie Leong and Jenny Wong in the finals, 6-3, 6-1.

Meanwhile, Lee will be playing in her third and last tournament in New Zealand this month. She is now in Auckland for the NZ ITF Summer Championships 2017.

The contest, that will begin today and run until this weekend, is a Grade 3 event—the highest level that Lee has competed in so far since joining the ITF Juniors Circuit two years ago. The tournament offers 60 points to the singles champion, 45 to the runner-up, 30 to the semifinalists, 20 to the quarterfinalists, and 15 and 7.5 to the Losers in Round of 16 and 32, respectively. In the doubles, the champions will get 50 ITF Juniors ranking points, 30 for the runners-up, 30 for the semifinalist, and 15 and 7.5 for the quarterfinalists and Losers in the Round of 16.

Lee, pending the inclusion of her ranking points earned in the tournament in Welligton, now has 125 combined ranking points. She has 110 in the singles and 60 in the doubles. The total ranking points are based on the players’ best 6 singles and best 6 doubles results.
