If you have an Apple or Android phone
If you use your phone at home, no problem, provided your home WiFi is password protected. The password is important, because it thwarts strangers from freeloading.
Regardless, it’s a good idea to get a VPN for your phone and your home computer. A VPN is a “virtual privacy network” which scrambles the communications—to and from your unit. Although there are paid VPN’s, there are some pretty good free ones, and one I like is called Betternet VPN.
It’s especially important to have a VPN on your phone if you use it in public places, such as coffee shops, hotel lobbies, or other outside locales. Switching on Betternet will block any intrusions from potential hackers.
The other good thing about Betternet VPN is that it’s free, and also works on home computers. If you have a Chrome or SR browser, it’s effortless to set up. Google “Betternet for Chrome,” click on the link and presto – it’s installed. You don’t have to register, sign up, or pay a single penny. Betternet VPN also works with other browsers.
Cool apps!
One of the blessings of YouTube is that it shows videos of cool stuff for your phone—apps which are not generally available through Google Play. In most videos of “banned apps” (they’re not really banned, just hard to find) there is an installation link below the video.
For example, if you want to watch movies for free, Google an app named “Showbox.” You will see the link and, if you click on it, it will download to your phone. Then all you need to do is to set it up and watch movies.
Part of the fun of having a smartphone is finding cool apps, especially the free ones. You can find them on YouTube and also a Google search will turn up hundreds of “banned” apps.
