Herring is new Fiesta Resort GM

Asia Pacific Hotel Inc., which operates both the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan in Garapan and the Kanoa Resort in Susupe, announced yesterday the official appointment of Wendi S. Herring as general manager of Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

Herring combines an international outlook with deep and practical experience in the islands, where she has demonstrated excellent credentials. Since July 2016 until January 2017, Herring concurrently managed both Fiesta and Kanoa Resort Saipan.

Herring brings over 25 years of industry experience spanning Saipan, Thailand, Guam, and England. She started her career at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan and gained extensive operational experience as a management trainee and was quickly promoted to assistant director of Sports, Entertainment & Activities for PIC Phuket in 1991. After opening the Thai property, Herring returned to Saipan in 1992 to assume executive positions as director of Sports, Entertainment & Activities, Rooms Division Manager, executive assistant manager, and finally general manager in 1999. From 2009-2012, Herring transitioned to the sister property as resident manager of PIC Guam, the largest hotel on that island.

Most recently, Herring returned to Saipan in February 2015 to assume the role of general manager of Kanoa Resort Saipan in which she delivered outstanding results in a changing market and achieved record numbers in guest satisfaction and revenue growth as well as overseeing the extensive room renovation project for the main wing.

Herring holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and is also a graduate of Cornell University’s esteemed General Manager’s Program. Wendi continues to represent APHI and TanHoldings through various community and industry associations including vice chair of the Marianas Tourism Education Council, board member of the Hotel Association of Northern Mariana Islands, and member of Soropotimist International and Saipan Chamber of Commerce. She has also worked closely with the AHLEI Hospitality Program at the local high schools, offering extensive shadowing opportunities at the hotels and speaking in their classrooms.

Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan is part of Asia Pacific Hotel Inc., under the TanHoldings group of companies. Located in central Garapan on sandy Micro Beach, Fiesta Resort operates 416 guest rooms, four restaurants, two bars, three meeting rooms, an extensive fitness center, two pools, game room, spa, beach volleyball courts and a retail outlet.
