Two McDonald’s managers complete leadership course

Two McDonald’s Saipan officers recently completed a business management course at the Hamburger University in Oak Brook, Illinois.

McDonald’s Saipan general manager Joe Ayuyu Jr. and Jocelyn Asistores finished what is called the General Managers Business Leadership Capstone.

In order to be able to attend the course, a manager must be able to meet certain milestones within their branches of management in all areas of the restaurant.

The one-week general management course, open to McDonald’s employees, “technically certifies us to be general managers,” said Ayuyu.

“My favorite thing about the class is learning about other people’s experiences,” he said.

The university is directly affiliated with McDonald’s.

Ayuyu said he learned a lot because “we are all in a very similar setting. McDonald’s is very well known for uniformity. Asistores and I brought our experience from way out here [on] Saipan,” he said.

Ayuyu said he was able to pick up a few ideas that have been implemented in other McDonald’s branches around the world and is looking to apply those that he deems are effective to the local scene.

The Hamburger University focuses on restaurant management. The 130,000 square foot training facility in Chicago was designed specifically for McDonald’s personnel.
