Costa Atlantica makes 2nd stop on Saipan
The gigantic cruise ship Costa Atlantica made its way back to Saipan last Jan. 7 for the second time in a single trip, carrying the same tourists back since its first docking on Dec. 6, 2016.
A single Costa Atlantica trip lasts 46 days, docking in various countries such as Japan, South Korea, Papua New Guinea, and China, to name a few.
For Day 39, the Costa Atlantica docked at Saipan’s Baker Dock, the second time the 960-foot cruise ship arrived on the island.
Costa Atlantica tour manager Valeria Nannini said the 1,900 tourists on board loved Saipan but unfortunately for the Costa Atlantica, there are no more port calls to follow.
“There aren’t any subsequent calls, particularly for this ship, but hopefully in the future, there will be more,” said Nannini.
Nannini said that many tourists enjoy the activities that Saipan has to offer.
“The tourists like strolling around Saipan. They really like how [nature on Saipan is.] They go snorkeling, ride all-terrain vehicles, and many more, so many people are really attracted to visit the island,” said Nannini.
The tourists follow an itinerary that takes them to various tourist attractions, so as to not leave behind any tourists behind when the ship leaves.
“We have a service for excursion and shuttle buses, so they already know what to do. They have been informed that they can go around and enjoy the services and restaurants, before coming back for the ship’s departure.”
According to Nannini, the cruise ship would stay on Saipan until 5pm today.
Costa Atlantica’s previous port call was in Nanjing, China. Costa Atlantica dropped by Saipan on its way to Busan, South Korea.
Saipan Shipping Co. acted as vessel agent to Costa Atlantica.
