The Flame Tree Arts Festival celebrates the rich art and cultural heritage of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and will take place on April 20-23, 2017.

The flame tree is nearly the CNMI’s official tree and the festival will be held during the typical blossoming season of the flame tree flowers. Many flame trees were damaged by Typhoon Soudeler and did not make an appearance last year but we are hopeful this year will bring an abundance of flowers.

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture, in conjunction with KKMP Foundation and KKMP Radio, are getting ready for the upcoming 2017 Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival. It will provide booths for Rota, Tinian, Northern Islands, and delegation booths for the Guam, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and Marshall Islands contingents.

Registration is now being accepted for the twenty food stalls, five indigenous food stands, 50 artists kiosks, and five school booths. The fee for registered artists is $50 for a 10×20 tent space, food vendors will register for $600 for a 20’x20’ space. Indigenous food stands will cost $300. Schools will be accorded space to display and sell their art pieces for free. Space will be on a first come, first served basis. Only art pieces and goods created in the CNMI and Micronesia will be allowed on the festival grounds; there will be no exemptions.
