Remembering Eloy
On Dec. 28, 2016, we commemorated the first death anniversary of our former governor, Eloy S. Inos. In remembrance of his untimely passing, members of the Democratic Party community joins his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and other family members in conveying our solemn prayer for the repose of the soul of their beloved father, grandfather and brother.
While the late governor was a lifetime member of the Republican Party and a political challenger, we Democrats acknowledge not his party affiliation but him as a person. His good-humored gentleness, his astute manipulation of facts and artful presentation of figures, his affableness and statesmanship earns our respect.
The late governor’s ascension to the highest political office in our government came at a very tumultuous history in our self-government, a critical time when even members of his own political party were desperate for a leader who could stabilize the adverse political shenanigans engulfing the Commonwealth.
Governor Inos, through his personal character, was successful in establishing emergency programs designed to stabilize the economy and convinced our citizens to give him, not his party, the trust and confidence to lead us forward.
In memory of his untimely passing and while we join the family in extending our prayers for his eternal rest, he left us behind only able to imagine the possibilities of what would have been like if he is still alive.
