Rotary youth caging eyes mid-August opening

(Walter Sutherland)  Basketball Association of Northern Mariana Islands is aiming to kick off the 21st Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League mid next month at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

BANMI is bringing back two age group divisions in the league-the U19 and U15-and is also hoping to have a separate competition for the U10 age group. Games are tentatively scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for U19 and Saturday morning for U15 and U10.

Other details of the league will be discussed in a meeting tomorrow at 5:30pm at the conference room of the Ada gym. Interested teams are requested to send their representatives to the meeting.

Entrance fee is only $100.

MDX B league meeting Friday

Meanwhile, another basketball competition will open next month with the staging of the MDX Sports Association Basketball League.

The league is for B division players and will open in the first week of August. Games will be played every Tuesday and Thursday, possibly at the Ada gym.

Only the first 10 teams to register will be allowed to play in the inaugural league. Entrance fee is only $325.

Ground rules and other important details about the league will be discussed in a meeting this Friday at the Civic Center Court in Susupe at 5pm.
