Daro Reyes Cabrera, a former Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew facing charges of burglarizing a lawyer’s house and engaging police officers in a car chase using a stolen CUC vehicle, pleaded guilty last week.

Cabrera, 38, pleaded guilty to burglary, theft of vehicle, and criminal mischief as part of a plea deal. The offenses carry a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. He will be sentenced on April 19, 2017.

The Office of the Attorney General originally charged Cabrera with burglary, theft, theft of vehicle, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and eluding police officer. The OAG later amended the charges to burglary, theft of vehicle, and criminal mischief.

Cabrera burglarized the house of attorney Bruce Berline in Puerto Rico on July 3, 2016. In addition, Cabrera stole CUC’s vehicle on July 14, 2016. That same day, he damaged the CUC vehicle and a Department of Public Safety vehicle.

Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit served as counsel for Cabrera. Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas represented the government.
