Glenna SP Reyes is Torres’ new senior policy adviser

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres recently appointed former Legislative Bureau director Glenna SP Reyes to serve as his senior policy adviser.

As the newest member to his Cabinet, Reyes fills a vacancy made early this year.  

“I have known Mrs. Reyes even before my career began in the Legislature. Given her experience at the helm of the bureau and as a legislative staffer for many years, I believe she can bring a great deal of insight and contributions to our team,” Torres said. 

Reyes said she is honored to return to public service after spending a few years in the private sector.

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve Governor Torres in this capacity. I look forward to assisting the governor in developing policies and strategies to support the vision of improving the Commonwealth. I thank Governor Torres for his confidence and I share his vision for the CNMI and I am excited to be part of the team to assist him as he drives the CNMI forward to advance the capacity of our island communities,” Reyes said.

Torres said the senior policy adviser strengthens an already diverse group of individuals who have steadily helped achieve the goals of the administration. 

“As we welcome in a new Legislature, we know that new challenges will definitely arise, and we can now ensure we are better informed and advised on essential matters with all branches of government,” Torres said.

Reyes formerly chaired the CNMI Scholarship advisory board and as vice president of the CNMI Parent Advisory Council. Under the former president of the CNMI Farmers Cooperative Association, she helped develop and implement operational and financial strategies that secured a grant to integrate clean and energy-efficient resources at the Garapan Public Market.  

Reyes previously served as the Legislative Bureau director from 2008 to 2011, after serving the bureau as its deputy director for two years. Prior to this, Reyes worked as a legislative staffer in the House of Representatives for two years and eight years in the Senate. Reyes earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Management from Argosy University, Graduate School of Business and Management.

She officially began her assignment last Monday.
