Agape student leads Saipan Duathlon winners

Agape Christian School’s Caleb Wang topped the men’s standard distance division of last Saturday’s Bridge Capital LLC Saipan Duathlon 2016.

Wang completed the 10K run, 40K bike, and 5K run in Marpi in 2:27:17 to beat early favorite Charlie Sendin and newcomer Joel Phair, who clocked in at 2:27:43 and 2:30:08, respectively, to round out the Top 3. Four other individuals competed in the men’s standard division with Von Adrian Libayan timing in at 2:34:20 to place fourth and Ronald Villafria (2:43:02), Rhenmer Remillosa (3:12:03), and Raymond Tolentino (3:34:49), completing the finishers list.

In the women’s division, Emily Nothrop was the lone competitor to brave the longest race last weekend and she timed in at 2:35:25, the fifth best time in the standard division.

In the relay event, Riding in Tandem came in at first after crossing the finish line at the 2:33:07. Team Godfather and Enrile’s Finest were ranked second and third after submitting 2:35:3 and 2:40:02, respectively. Tanapag Boys 2 (2:46:00), Tsamba (2:54:58), Young & Restless (2:59:12), Team BSI (2:59:29), and Tanapag Boys 1 (3:03:34) were the other finishers in the team event of the standard division.

In the sprint category, which covered a 5K run, 20K bike, and 2.5K run, Nap Dizon, Ayano Braxton, and Fast & Furious were the winners in their respective divisions.

Dizon ruled the men’s field after checking in at 1:12:57. Saipan Swim Club’s Taiga Sato placed second after logging 1:13:17, while Nick Villalor completed the Top 3 after posting 1:17:45. Twenty-three other individuals finished the division race.

In the women’s event, Braxton recorded 1:27:56 to lead the podium finishers, which also included Kathy Ruszala (1:38:03) and Mamiko Berger (1:38:21). In the relay, the Fast & Furious (1:15:31) prevailed against Agape Hutu (1:16:09), DFS Girls (1:37:04), and DFS 1 (1:41:35).
