Hell of the Marianas sees record turnout
The 10th Annual Hell of the Marianas saw over 190 participants, pro and novice from around the world, compete in the 100km bike race. With grueling climbs and speedy down hills, this course was one of the most challenging yet.
“We couldn’t have done it without all our amazing sponsors as well as the folks over at DPS, the Fire and EMS department, Parks and Recreation, DPW, and of course, GPPC for all the help with the Capital Hill road project and keeping our riders safe and sound! We had an amazing race,” said Vince Seman, president of the Northern Mariana Islands Cycling Federation.
The Platinum sponsors for this event were DFS Saipan, Gatorade, TSL Foundation, and Triple J, Saipan. Gold sponsors were Hyatt Regency Saipan, IT&E, Gold’s Gym, and Island Training Solutions. Silver sponsors as Power 99 and abronze sponsors were Philippine Airlines, Saipan Bike Pro, Pacific Island Club, Taro Sue, Bridge Capital, Mango Resort, Hawaiian Rock Products, and Let’s Go! Saipan.
First place winner for the men’s category was Philippine rider John Paul Morales, second place was Japan’s Makoto Morimoto, and third was the Philippines’ Mark John Galedo. First place for the female’s category was Mieko Carey from Guam. Second and third were Manami Iljima and Chika Fukumoto, both from Japan. (PR)
