Randy and Richard Steele are seeded first in the men’s 3.0 doubles event in the 8th Annual Tan Holdings Tennis Classic, which will have its second and final week of competition beginning today at the various hotel courts on Saipan.

The father-and-son tandem, which finished second in the same division last year, will be pitted against the winner in the Friday match between the pairs of Rintaro Miyawaki and Go Sekiguchi and A.J. Hudkins and Alex Park. Park topped last year’s championship with Clayton Izuka, who will also join the event this year with new partner Christopher Aninzo. Izuka and Aninzo will duel the debuting Sun Joon Tenorio and the returning Michael Jones this Friday with the victor battling Allan Lee and Sam Ryu in the semifinals.

In the men’s over 50 doubles, the pairs of Ken Imaya and Brian Wessel and David Lai and Eddie Wu are the Top 2 seeds. Also playing in the division are Neo Masinda/Diony Peralta; Feel Kalen/Gary Ramsey; Roy Banados/George Poquiz; and Jorge Olanda/Boboy Sergio.

Imaya will also compete in the men’s 4.0 doubles with Don Castillo and they are seeded second in the field. Sam Lai and Dong Min Lee are the top-ranked players, while the duos of Banados/Art Lopez, Joe Quitugia/Wessel, and Eric Abragan/Mihai Leta complete the division.

In the women’s doubles 4.0, there are only three entries in Isabel Heras/Conatsu Kaga, Mizuyo Otobe/Chie Sato, and Malika Miyawaki/Tania Tan. In the mixed doubles 5.0, Heras will join forces with coach Jeff Race and they will play in a round-robin contest against Wendi Herring/Martin Jambor and Carol Lee/Steve Goodwin.
