USCIS officer at SHRM’s December meeting
The CNMI Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management will meet on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s and will feature Kamana Mathur, the community relations officer of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services-Pacific District.
Mathur will speak on several topics but the focus of the presentation will be on the I-9 form, its completion and retention and how to avoid discrimination claims. Mathur will also provide information on various visa types and categories, an overview of the green card process, and will discuss the naturalization process. Mathur’s position involves meeting members of the community and providing them with immigration related information and taking back issues presented by the community to USCIS leadership to be appropriately addressed.
Mathur will also provide an opportunity for questions, so come with any concerns you might have about the issues being presented. CW visas and H-2B visas will not be discussed at this meeting.
All members of the community are invited to attend the meeting, which is from 11:30am to 2pm.
SHRM members are urged to come out and gain some worthwhile tips regarding green card applications and I-9 forms.
The attendance fee is $20 for SHRM members and $30 for non-SHRM members. Register with Penny Jones by email at penny.jones@hyattsaipan.com or contact Penny or Lany at 323-5867 or 323-5867. Seats are limited, but still available.
As the local chapter of the world’s largest organization for human resource practitioners, the CNMI SHRM holds regular monthly and special meetings on topics that will assist the Commonwealth’s HR and management community in keeping abreast of current HR practices and employment law requirements, as well as providing them training on relevant human resource topics. The CNMI chapter has been active since 1996. For more information about the NMI Chapter, visit their website at http://nmichapter.shrm.org. (PR)
