MVA joins Taipei International Travel Fair

The Marianas Visitors Authority joined one of the biggest annual travel industry events in the Asia-Pacific region, the 2016 Taipei International Travel Fair, on Nov. 4-7, 2016,

This year the fair received 361,071 visitors, a 3.67-percent increase over last year’s fair. The event attracted 950 exhibitors, including the MVA, with 1,450 booths from 60 countries

At the pre-fair press conference on Nov. 3, MVA deputy managing director Judy Torres awarded two grand prizes of airline tickets to Saipan to winning journalists in support of the fair emphasis on “Travel as Couples” theme.

“The Marianas Visitors Authority launched our Taiwan office in October 2013. Overall there is 112-percent growth from 2013 to 2016. It shows that Taiwan is a growing market and there is demand in Taiwan for travel to the CNMI,” Torres told media and travel trade reps. “Our Taiwanese visitors stay for an average of four nights, five days, and we’ve received nearly 100 percent positive feedback about their stay in the NMI from the past three years of exit survey research.”

On Taipei ITF opening day, the MVA launched the latest online campaign “2017 Intern to the Marianas,” also called “The Best Internship in the World” and considered the most popular campaign among tourism boards in Taiwan. This annual campaign aims to position the Northern Marianas as a popular destination targeting island lovers and to increase awareness by targeting social media networkers, adventure lovers, and vacationers.

On Nov. 5, the MVA’s Taiwan office celebrated its three-year anniversary in Taiwan by inviting 47 VIP travel trade and media guests to a special review the achievements and special occasions of the office since its opening. A photo book signing ceremony with celebrity Phoebe Yuan on Nov. 6 attracted a large crowd also attracted a crowd at the MVA’s booth.
