A hotel official fell prey to a burglar or burglars who ransacked his apartment unit in Garapan of appliances, other items, and loose coins early Friday morning.

The victim immediately reported the matter to the Department of Public Safety as soon as he discovered the break-in that day. No arrests have been made as of yesterday.

The items stolen include a black 37-inch flat screen DiBoss TV and its remote control, a Bose media center (Lifestyle 28) and its remote control, cube speakers, a Western Digital media player and its remote control, Tag Heuer wristwatch, about $140 in loose coins, a box of Hershey’s Drop chocolates, and two Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirts in plastic packages. The estimated total value of the stolen items and money is about $4,000 to $5,000.

The victim told Saipan Tribune that the burglary happened at the Saipan Beach Court unit B-2 on Feb. 3 between 2:30am and 5am. The victim discovered the break-in at 9:10am that day.

The suspect or suspects entered the apartment unit through the back door, cutting the chicken wire mesh to open the deadbolt.
