TanHoldings vs MP United in rubber for division crown

TanHoldings Football Club and MP United won their last game in the regular season of the 2016 NMIFA Youth Fall League to force a playoff match for the boys U17 division championship.
MP United whipped Kanoa, 10-0, in a make-up game last Wednesday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, while TanHoldings had a similar lopsided victory against Paire, 11-0, last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field. With their wins, MP United and TanHoldings ended the double-robin robin competition with identical 6-1-1 win-draw-loss records.
A playoff game is set for today at 4pm at the Oleai pitch to decide the winner of the division title with MP United hoping for back-to-back championship after bagging the spring crown this year.
MP United, whose lone loss this season came in the first round against TanHoldings, drew six goals from Sun Joon Tenorio to ease past Kanoa. Tenorio earned a hat trick early in the match as he got his first right in the second minute and the next two in the eighth and 10th. His three other goals were also recorded in succession with his fourth posted in the 24th minute and the last two in the 46th and 52nd.
Four other MP United players scored against Kanoa. Joshua Abragan made it to the board in the 16th minute, while Go Sekiguchi found his target in the 59th. Christopher Aninzo and James Kim logged their goals in the 69th and 71st minute, respectively.
With MP United shutting down Kanoa, the latter failed to get a win this season as it fell to a 0-1-7 card. MP United., with its additional 10 goals, brought its total to 26 and gave up only 6.
TanHoldings had the most goals in the regular season with 36 and matched MP United in the least goals yielded.
Joshua Galarion added three, while Mareko Tekopua chipped in two to TanHoldings’ output after their rout of Paire (1-1-6). Mark Esalan, Louie Calayag, Albert Bergancia, Alan Hinson, Ryan Relucio, and Jonathan Capayas contributed one each.
Meanwhile, in the girls U15 division, Kanoa finished second behind Shirley’s FC (6-1-1) after downing Matansa, 4-1, in a make-up game last Saturday at the Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School Field.
Kanoa wrapped up the regular season with a 6-0-2 record, while Matansa had a third-best 4-1-3 card. MP United (3-0-5) and TanHoldings (0-0-8) completed the field.
Britanny Wally closed out strong for Kanoa, as she recorded a hat trick in their last game this season. Paulyn Grace Joyce posted the other goal for Kanoa, while Matansa avoided a shutdown, thanks to Angelica Sally’s shot in the first half.
