Guam searches for missing service member

SANTA RITA, Guam—A search is being conducted for a missing service member off of Tarague Beach at Anderson Air Force Base, Guam.

Around midnight on Nov. 21, U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Sub-Center Guam received a call from Anderson 36th Security Forces of a reported male swimmer over the reef.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam is coordinating the search efforts with multiple resources to include Guam Fire Rescue, Anderson Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard patrol boat Assateague, and a 45-foot U.S. Coast Guard response boat. Aerial support is being provided by the 34th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron and helicopter support from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 and Guam Army National Guard.

Anyone having information regarding the missing swimmer is asked to call U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam at 671-355-4824 or hail U.S Coast Guard over VHF-FM Ch. 16. (PR)
