Paseo de Marianas Promoters, Inc. was able to collect 1,020 lbs of trash during its two-hour volunteer cleanup held last Friday, Nov. 11, at the Paseo de Marianas.
Volunteers met up to clean Paseo de Marianas, Coral Tree Avenue, American Memorial Park Road, Beach Road, and Old Winchells Road from 9am to 11am.
Sonia G. Siwa, coordinator for PDM Promoters, said, “We usually do our monthly cleanup every first or second Saturday of the month, but since today is a holiday, all schools were closed for the children. So we decided to do our cleanup during Veteran’s Day.”
According to Siwa, several of the things volunteers did during the cleanup consisted of bush cutting and trimming the plants along Paseo de Marianas in preparation for the upcoming Christmas event.
The volunteer group consisted of 35 Saipan Awaodori members, 10 staff from Kinpachi Restaurant, and two Koban policemen.
“We would like to thank the Koban policemen who also joined with our cleanup. They were such a big help,” Siwa said.
