Singers needed for Christmas musical

A heart-warming musical production is coming your way this Christmas season with Friends of the Arts’ When You Believe. Singing parts are available for teens and adults! Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6pm at the Marianas High School Dolphin Theater. Start a tradition and come audition with friends and family for this cheery Christmas production! Show dates are Dec. 9, 10, and 11. (PR)

High surf advisory

Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, gentle to occasionally moderate winds are expected the next several days. Combined seas of 6 to 8 feet are expected to subside to 5 to 7 feet by Friday afternoon and 4 to 6 feet over the weekend.
A high surf advisory now in effect until noon Friday. Surf will be hazardous at 7 to 9 feet along north facing reefs tonight and Friday morning. The surf is expected to subside below hazardous levels to between 6 and 8 feet by noon today.
The EOC is advising the public and inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, to avoid sailing in these conditions. Beachgoers and mariners are also advised to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those facing north as rip currents will be life threatening. (EOC)

Two scheduled power interruptions

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has scheduled two power interruptions today, Nov. 11, 2016, from 6am to 12pm and tomorrow, Nov. 12, 2016, from 6am to 12p.m. Areas to be affected are Chalan Pale Arnold Road (from Sugar King to 99cents Supermart), Garapan St., Alaihai Av. (Duty Free, I Love Saipan), Puti Tainobiu Ave., Filooris Ave., Bikiki Ave., Kalachucha Ave., Upper Miha, and Nothern side of China Town (Sugar King Rd., Executive Ct., Husga Av., President St., Ruler Ct., and Governor Pl.) Military training at Warning Area 517

ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 
(W-517) on Nov. 14-18, from 2pm to 9pm. The public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear of the areas during the date and times indicated. (PR)
