Optimistic excitement

There are increasing signs of optimistic excitement for all Democrats in the CNMI regarding the prospect of having to elect a well-qualified woman to be President of the United States. The Democratic Party of the Northern Marianas will be making history by being 1) accepted, for the first time, as members of the Democratic National Committee, DNC. 2) casting its majority delegate votes for Hillary R. Clinton during the DNC national convention in Philadelphia, and 3) supported the movement in breaking the proverbial barriers that society unwittingly created against women and their God-given potentials.

In spite of the FBI’s controversial handling of information regarding Clinton’s emails in Anthony Weiner’s computer, polls taken Wednesday indicated that she continues to maintain a 6-percent advantage over Donald Trump. It appears that voters have already made up their minds regarding the email issue. Unless prosecutable evidence is found between now and Nov. 8, she will be the first Democratic woman to achieve the unthinkable of breaking the so-called “glass ceiling.”

Republicans are beginning to accept the fact that their candidate, Donald Trump, will not be the next president of the United States, and instead acknowledging the likely inevitability that the White House will, once again, be occupied by a strong-willed Democrat … Hillary Rodman Clinton, a woman and political icon. More fundamentally, she will be in a better position to advance her “No Ceilings” 21th century project agenda to accelerate full participation for women and girls around the world.

We here in the CNMI, especially Democrats, who are fair minded citizens and women, find reason to be joyfully optimistic of the future for women in politics when Hillary R. Clinton is finally elected as our next president of the United States of America. The successful ascension of a woman to being the commander-in-chief of the most powerful military enterprise the world has ever seen is attractive for young women to explore public service as a career of choice. What an inspiring role model she provides for our young women here on our islands.

No matter what others think of Hillary R. Clinton as a woman, wife, mother, grandmother, first lady, senator, lawyer and secretary of State, no one can deny the fact that she has dedicated her entire life helping others, especially advocating and advancing the cause of all children. I am particularly inspired by her biography and I consider her a hero because she is someone who has given her life to something bigger than herself.
