PAL donates roundtrip ticket to foundation
The Make-a-Wish Foundation, which helps make the wishes of children come true, received a roundtrip ticket from Philippine Airlines last Oct. 28 to help with their many noble endeavors.
“Philippine Airlines, for which we are the general sales agent, is donating a roundtrip ticket, I believe, to the Philippines. That however, is just an incentive solely for the children that want to see something outside Saipan,” said TanHoldings corporate consultant David M. Sablan.
TanHolding is the mother company of Century Travel, which is the general sales agent of Philippine Airlines in the CNMI.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation fulfills the wishes of children with health and medical issues. According to Sablan, the foundation originated in Arizona among a group of firemen. They heard about several children whose life expectancies were greatly reduced due to illness or circumstance. The firemen raised money to accommodate the needs of the children in order for them to comfortably live while they are alive.
Sablan said he was involved in introducing the foundation to Saipan close to 16 or 17 years ago. “I raised money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation children who were here. At first I had a gala dinner where I raised $30,000. The following year, I brought the founder of Make-a-Wish Foundation and raised $34,000 and thereafter, the program continued,” Sablan said.
“I, and the foundation, are greatly honored for not only the donation we received today from Philippine Airlines, but everyone else who has supported us throughout the years. Helping children who do not have the privilege of living a prolonged life, that’s basically what the Make-a-Wish Foundation is all about,” he added.
