Mount Carmel Theatre Club president and founder Galvin Guerrero couldn’t be more proud for the cast and crew of the play Dracula that played last Friday and Saturday at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret.

Brianna Hunter directed the play and the main cast consisted of Zeno Deleon Guerrero Jr. as Dracula, Michael Ortizo as professor Abraham Van Helsing, Monica Aira Usi as Lucy Seward, and Jeff Matthew Melchor as Dr. Seward.

“I’m really proud of these students. It’s a very difficult, classic play. Originating from the 1920s, it required nothing but top-notch acting and that was what they delivered tonight. The acting was just phenomenal. I’m very proud of the cast, and it takes a great director like Brianna to bring out that amazing performance,” said Guerrero.

He said the Mount Carmel Theatre Club rehearsed three times a week for about two and a half months prior to the scheduled performances.

“This is one of the few shows that I didn’t do much with it. I just took care of producing, like getting the publicity out, arranging for the venue, and signing the money. I was actually pretty hands-off on this project.”

When asked about her thoughts post-opening night, Hunter said, “I’m really happy with the cast and crew, and basically just everybody involved in the show because they really dedicated a lot of their time and effort on the play. Even with the turnout tonight, it was just a fantastic show and I hope that the audience loved it as well.”

She said that everything went smoothly and that all they ever had to do before screen time was an audio test. Aside from Hunter the production team also included Jaqueline Doctor as stage manager, Eligiah Camacho as floor manager, Rosa Castro as art director, Erika Mendiola as business manager, You Jin Kim as tech director, and William Blake Deleon Guerrero as soundboard operator.

The rest of the cast included Jose Castro as John Harker, Kelvin Cepeda as R.M. Renfield, Jonelle Toskas as Mrs. Wells, and William Minami as Butterworth.

The art crew is composed of Andrea Bang, Risa Hirayama, Cassidy Torre, Kayla Sabla, Antonia Reye, Angel Miki Takayama, and Keona Camacho.

The floor crewmember were Joseph Muna, John Diego Masga, Edward Minam, Jacob Sablan, Jan Travilla, and Karleen Reyes.
