The Marianas Visitors Authority and Mango Resort Saipan joined the grand opening of Kedrovii Dom (Cedar House) resort in Vladivostok, Russia, on Oct. 9, 2016, to increase awareness of the Northern Mariana Islands and encourage family travel to the islands.
Kedrovii Dom is a luxury, family-oriented entertainment center encompassing hotel accommodations, restaurants, and recreational facilities. Targeting families with children, the grand opening included approximately 20 other exhibitors, including children’s entertainment companies, food courts, youth clubs, zoos, and other companies related to family pastimes. An estimated 1,000 people attended the event, where the MVA distributed printed material and answered questions at their exhibition stand.
“Guests showed very high interest in the Northern Marianas,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “That’s good news, and the MVA will continue to maintain a presence in Russia as their economy stabilizes and outbound tourism hopefully improves.”
At the NMI exhibition stand, guests of the event made origami airplanes that they could post on an interactive map of Saipan with fond wishes. A photo contest called “Wanna go to Mango Resort?” also encouraged event-goers to take a picture at the NMI exhibition stand and download the photo to an SNS with special hashtags #ILOVESAIPAN and “#хочувmangosaipan” (#wannagotomangosaipan). The selected winner of the contest received an MVA-branded giveaway kit and three-day accommodation provided by the Mango Resort Saipan, who joined the MVA at the event. (MVA)
