The household names in Marianas MMA will be the main attraction in next month’s Art of War 11: Submission Grappling/BJJ Tournament.
Frank “The Crank” Camacho leads the impressive list and will be joined in the Nov. 5 tournament by Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez and Kelvin “The Big Hit” Fitial. The three MMA practitioners are among the more than 40 individuals who have already signed up for AOW.
Camacho and Alvarez are entered in the middleweight class (176 to 204 lbs), which has six other participants so far. They are Jasper Van Der Maas, Vince Masfa, Roman Alvarez, Rey Kim, Jeffery Garcia, and Lucas Nutting.
Shane will compete in two other divisions—lightweight (146 to 155lbs) and welterweight 156 to 175lbs). The 21-year-old fighter will have 10 opponents for the lightweight title. His cousin, Roman, is one of them, while other participants in the division include Danny Cruz, Pinchi Rangamar, Kenji Okiyama, Seay Camacho, Van Der Maas, Jordan Manglona, Mark Nuique, Joseph Attao, and Elden Dela Cruz.
In the welterweight class, which has the most entries so far with 15, Shane will vie for the division crown against Roman, his brother Alverick, Dane Salazar, Rey Kim, Vince Torres, Vince Masga, Garcia, Nutting, Van Der Maas, Allan Aguon, Joey Crisostomo, Stanley Iakopo, and Gordon Salas Jr.
In the heavyweight division (205lbs and up), Fitial headlines the cast and will be joined by Joe Ocampo, Adam Harris, Roman, Ningbo Cepeda, Joshua Castro, John Aguon, and Anthony Rivera.
Three other weight classes will be contested in next month’s competition organized by Trench Tech’s Cuki Alvarez.
In the flyweight field (100 to 125lbs), four have so far signed up with Keoni Castro on top of the list. Also entered in the division are Piling Terlaje, Giovanni Taingtingfong, and Sea’Hara Cruz.
Taingtingfong and Castro will also see action in the bantamweight division (126 to 135lbs) along with Jay Muna, Bradlee Manalo, Okiyama, and Kenny Vasquez.
Okiyama has three competitions, as he will be featured, too in the featherweight class (136 to 145lbs). Lorenzo Attao, Nick Cruz, Jay Muna, Camacho, Nuique, Blessam Tarkong, Ricky Camp, and Derrick Rangamar are also on the field.
Meanwhile, Cuki said registration for the seven weight classes are still open and deadline to sign up is set for 8pm on Nov. 4. Grapplers can join more than one weight division provided they compete in the category above their weight class. Registration fee is $20 per weight class.
Medals will be awarded to the Top 3 finishes in each division.
