‘RWM poised to influence regional gaming market’

As Imperial Pacific International Ltd. streams toward the completion of its initial gaming facility on Saipan, Resorts World Manila, the pioneering integrated resort of the Philippines, casts a long shadow for newcomers in the Asian gaming market.

As an integrated resort Resorts World Manila’s vast property contains enough hotel options, food and beverage outlets, shopping malls, casino floors, entertainment shows, and a family amusement complex to meet any travelers’ needs within one location.

Situated in Newport Boulevard in Pasay City, directly across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, Resorts World Manila is the first and largest integrated resort in the Philippines, having opened its doors in August of 2009.

To date, Resorts World Manila boasts an impressive tally of 1,934 rooms through its partnership with international lodging brands. RWM is currently home to four luxury hotels—Maxims Hotel, Marriott Hotel Manila, Remington Hotel Manila, and Belmont Hotel Manila—and has positioned itself to expand its accommodations with the addition of Sheraton Hotel Manila and Hilton Manila Hotel, which are currently under construction.

“People love brands here!” said RWM chief operating officer Stephen Reilly, “…and internationally, they love it in broad counts and so with these partners, we are going to get a lot more traffic coming through.”

In the previous week alone, approximately 27,000 to 35,000 individuals travelled through Resorts World Manila a day, Reilly said.

Located within Resorts World Manila are over 50 food and beverage outlets, high-end shopping malls, upscale cinemas, vast gaming floors, an award winning performing arts theatre, and the Marriott Grand Ballroom which spans over 3,000 sq.m. and holds the Philippines’ biggest ballroom with the capacity to host up to 2,500 to 4,000 persons.

Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. was developed through a partnership between Alliance Global Group, Inc. and Genting Hong Kong Ltd., two powerhouse companies with vast business interests across different industries such as hospitality, food and beverage, and property development, which created Resorts World Manila as their first project.

Resorts World Manila is now just one integrated resort among the Resorts World empire that now spans the United States, Asia, and the Caribbean. The Philippines is just less than four hours flight from Saipan and four and a half hours away from Guam, making it an ideal destination for not just a quick getaway, but also a strategic hub of medical tourism in the region. Just this year, world-class healthcare provider St. Luke’s Medical Center partnered with Resorts World Manila to further its commitment of providing top caliber medical care.

Located within Resorts World Manila and near Bonifacio Global City where St. Luke’s Medical Center is located, the Belmont and Remington hotels provide ideal medical tourism arrangements by extending their services to the hospital’s patients.

In Manila, Reilly projects that “within the next two to three years, we will be sitting on a grand total of close to 4,500 [rooms].”

“This is something we planned for because the demand is so high, and the demand will get higher and higher,” he added.

With its world-class brands, convenient shopping malls, luxurious accommodations and ambitious growth projections, Resorts World Manila is certainly poised to influence the competitive regional gaming and entertainment market.

It is not hard to see that the vision Resorts World Manila has for the region can potentially offer a competitive edge to the regional integrated resort market, as it continues to live up to its moniker of “one-stop, nonstop, entertainment and tourism destination.” (Hanaivy Babauta/Special to the Saipan Tribune)
