Triple J Saipan, Inc. donated on Oct. 18 $500 to the Napu Outrigger Canoe Club Jr. team that will compete in the 2016 Micro Cup in Palau. Napu will be the only junior team competing on behalf of the CNMI as all other teams will be in the adult category.
“Triple J is happy to support such an incredible after-school program and athletic club that teaches our youth about hard work, dedication, [and] teamwork, all while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle,” said Jay Santos, GM of Five Star Wholesale Foods and Truckload Store.
Teams from all over the world will be competing in the Micro Cup with events in 500m sprints, 1,500m sprints and long distance races.
Presenting the check on behalf of Triple J were Randy Steele, GM of Triple J Motors; Jay Santos, GM of Five Star Wholesale and Truckload Store; and Perry Inos Jr., Business Development manager.
“We didn’t have enough money for a hotel and this really helps us,” said club vice president and coach Jason Tarkong.
