An allegedly intoxicated woman punched and hit her boyfriend with a set of keys outside her house in San Vicente early Sunday morning, causing a laceration on his right eyebrow.

Mary Kelly Alfred, 45, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

The victim was taken by paramedics to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment of three to four-centimeter laceration on the eyebrow, police said.

At a hearing on Monday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for Oct. 24 at 9am.

Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Alfred. Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

Police detective John Anthony Hofschneider stated in his report that investigation showed that prior to the incident, the victim was sleeping in the passenger seat of a car outside the house of his girlfriend on Sunday.

Alfred, who was drinking beer with her mother outside the house, later called her boyfriend twice at 1:50am. The boyfriend did not answer.

Alfred then opened the passenger side door of the car, threw a pillow at him, and told him he was the reason why her mother is not at the house.

When the boyfriend got down, Alfred allegedly punched him twice on the head and then swung a set of keys at his right eyebrow.

Alfred yelled at her boyfriend to leave because she does not want him. The boyfriend carried his box of belongings and walked down from the house. He then called 911.
