Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and first lady Diann Torres sponsored the $200 baby grand prize of the Commonwealth Healthcare Volunteers Thanksgiving Day Raffle, with the presentation of the donation yesterday, at the CHCC Gift Shop.
Intended to raise funds to replace the outdated IV system throughout the hospital, the first lady invited the public to purchase tickets for the raffle at the CHCC Gift Shop.
“I just want the general public to come out and support the CHCCVA. They have been here for so long and have done so much for the community and for the facility itself. Come out, buy your tickets today! They are $5 a booklet and you can win a trip to Manila, courtesy of Philippine Airlines and some cash money,” said Diann Torres.
She touted the benefit of supporting the raffle, saying it benefits everyone. “Everybody is affected. Everybody comes to the [hospital], so even if one person wins the grand prize, everybody takes part in the facility and anything that they donate to the facility.”
Gov. Ralph Torres thanked the volunteers and those that have volunteered before them for their services.
“I just also want to thank the volunteers for spending their time to be here for 30 years. For those in the past who was part of the Volunteer Service, they are the reason why we continue to fight for the cause. They are the reason the retirees come out here and volunteer their services, that just means a lot to all of us. To show them that we do appreciate that, we’d like to also support what they are volunteering for,” he said.
CHCC Volunteers Association treasurer Rieko Guerrero is thankful for the donation, and shared that the CHCCVA as a whole is committed to improving the only hospital in the CNMI for the benefit of those that live here.
“We really appreciate the governor, the first lady, and Philippine Airlines and all others for joining this fantastic Thanksgiving raffle,” she said.
For those interested in buying tickets, they can be bought at the CHCC gift shop or by calling the hospital at 234-8950 or contacting CHCCVA president John Gonzales at 285-6382.
