Texas-based senior field service technician checks CEC counting machines

The Election Systems and Software from Nebraska sent yesterday to Saipan its Texas-based senior field service technician for servicing the Commonwealth Election Commission’s five counting machines that will be needed for this Nov. 8 general election.
Acting CEC executive director Julita A. Villagomez said ESS senior field service technician William McCullough came to upgrade their tabulation machines and see if there’s something wrong with them.
Villagomez said CEC purchased from ESS in 2003 or 2005 three big counting machines for Saipan, and one machine each for Tinian and Rota.
Villagomez said since they bought the machines, they have not encountered problems because they are very accurate and fast in tabulating votes.
The acting CEC executive director said McCullough was set to complete the servicing of the five machines yesterday as he was proceeding to Guam today, Wednesday, to also check the machines there in preparation for primary.
McCullough said he was just going over all of CEC’s election equipment, doing preventive maintenance, cleaning up the rollers, just making sure that everything is running properly.
McCullough did not see any problems with the machines.
“Just the regular dirty rollers that need cleaning,” he said.
