BREAKING NEWS: Tropical storm conditions for Saipan, Tinian cancelled
The CNMI Emergency Operations Center has cancelled Tropical Storm Condition 3 for Saipan and Tinian as Tropical Storm 10W is moving away from the islands and tracking a north-northeast path.
As of 1am today, the tropical storm was tracked 185 miles northwest of Saipan, 180 miles northwest of Tinian, 215 miles north-northwest of Rota, 195 miles southwest of Agrihan, 170 miles west-southwest of Pagan, 165 miles west-southwest of Alamagan, and 245 miles north-northwest of Guam
While the tropical storm warning has been cancelled for Saipan and Tinian, tropical storm warning remains in effect for Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan as winds of 39 mph or more are expected within 24 hours in the Northern Islands.
Packing maximum sustained winds at 35 mph, 10W is expected to intensify slowly through Saturday and will likely be a tropical storm later that morning.
Acting governor Victor B. Hocog is advising residents to maintain necessary precautionary measures for gusty strong winds, heavy rain showers and possible flooding.
Residents should also secure all loose objects around the house that needs to be strapped down or removed strong winds.
