TO PROVIDE MORE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH
DCCA-DYS leverages resources with CNMI DOL
For the past three years, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs-Division of Youth Services, through the continued partnership with the Workforce Investment Agency under the CNMI Department of Labor, has been allocating approximately $40,000 for the Summer Youth Employment Training Program.
DYS administrator Vivian Sablan states that the leveraging of resources is to provide for additional opportunities for the youth in addition to funds readily available through the Workforce Innovative Opportunity Act Youth Program.
DCCA-DYS continues to provide such support to WIA through the Community Services Block Grant funded under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which serves the purpose of providing education, training, and employment opportunities for the vulnerable population.
This funding assistance provided employment training to about 82 youth participants distributed on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, which took place from Aug. 1 to 12, 2016.
