BSI-CSR successfully implements ‘School Pride Project’

This week the thousands of public elementary, middle, and high school students returned to a clean and spanking learning environment as a result of a successful implementation of the School Pride Project, a pioneering outreach and engagement initiative of Best Sunshine’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

“The School Pride Project is definitely something that I personally have been very proud of. Education is very important and giving our children a suitable and enjoyable environment is key,” CSR executive director Geri Dela Cruz said. “It gives me and my team great pleasure in assisting in the continued improvement of our public schools.”

Thirteen public elementary, middle, and high school campuses on Saipan were served by BSI-CSR “School Pride Project.”

“We hope that our students, our hardworking staff, and the community would be proud of CSR’s contribution to our public schools for the new school year,” Dela Cruz added.

The initiative was launched in middle of July with the intent of assisting the Public School System through the different public school campuses prepare for the new school year. The work ranged from clean up to repainting, repair, and renovation of some structures and facilities.

Garapan Elementary School principal Leila Yumul has acknowledged the continued support of Best Sunshine to her school. GES is home to the largest public elementary school population in the CNMI.

“Best Sunshine has just been there to support GES in many ways that I can’t really say everything because there’s too much,” Yumul admits. “They just lifted a big load off of the school.”

Among the major work done by BSI’s CSR team was to repair and rehabilitate GES’ playground system that sat idly after it was rendered unsafe for years.

For San Vicente Elementary School, the CSR team’s commitment and sustained work is making a big difference in the community.

“(R)ight now our campus looks very lively after all we went through last year with (typhoon) Soudelor. Your commitment and continued efforts to go out into the community and do a lot of improvement projects is something we really appreciate,” principal Paulette T. Sablan said in appreciation of the work of Best Sunshine’s Corporate Social Responsibility team.

At Koblerville Elementary School, principal Rizalina P. Liwag said the beautification and improvement work was a tremendous help.

“We really want to express our appreciation to Best Sunshine for working with us in terms of beautification and improvement of our facility by painting the sidewalks and parking stalls,” Liwag separately said.

William S. Reyes Elementary School is grateful of the similar work done.

“Thank you CSR team for providing us assistance in preparing for the opening of the new school year. We are grateful for what you have done for us within the time allotted,” said vice principal Marji P. Tarope.

What was admirable for Tanapag Middle School principal Eric S. Thornburgh was how the voluntary work “was done with sincerity and dedication.”

“The team worked with sincere smiles on their faces and with very uplifting spirits. Tanapag Middle School commends and thanked Best Sunshine and its CSR team for all their hard work and admirable work ethic,” the school leader separately said.

Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School principal Raena Bermudes agrees.

“A big ‘thank you’ to the Best Sunshine team for their partnership in ensuring a clean and safe campus environment for our students. We would not have been able to complete the tasks in time without all of you.” (PR)
