High surf advisory for west and south facing reefs remains in effect until Friday, while high surf advisory is no longer in effect along north facing reefs.

According to information received from the National Weather Service-Tiyan Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point hazardous surf of 9 to 11 feet will persist through Wednesday along west facing reefs and surf will remain hazardous through at least Friday.

The high surf advisory, meanwhile, is no longer in effect along north facing reefs, as surf has fallen below hazardous levels to 6 to 8 feet. But surf may become hazardous again on Wednesday.

Along south facing reefs, surf will be hazardous up to 9 feet through at least Wednesday.

NWS said fresh to strong southwest winds and combined seas of 10 to 12 feet will persist the next few days. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected most of the week.

A small craft advisory also remains in effect until 7pm CHST Friday as southwest winds of 20 to 25 knots and combined seas of 10 to 12 feet will produce hazardous conditions for operators of small craft.

Acting governor Victor B. Hocog therefore is advising the general public and inexperience mariners—especially those operating smaller vessels—to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches especially those facing south and west exposures as rip currents will be life-threatening.
