Wing Beach cleanup needs volunteers

Share

The Division of Environmental Quality’s cleanup brigade will be picking up trash at Wing Beach tomorrow, July 7, 2012, at 8am.

If you would like to volunteer, meet the DEQ representatives on Saturday at the beach entrance parking lot.

Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10am and break for drinks and then continue, if needed.

This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a green brigade t-shirt.

Last month, the cleanup at COP Beach was successful with over 45 volunteers participating. Thanks to Koblerville Elementary School, Kagman High School, CUC, and other volunteers, 580 lbs of trash was removed from the beach and properly disposed off. DEQ would also like to thank D&Q for the refreshments.

For more information about volunteering, contact the DEQ office at 664-8500/1.
