In its continuous effort to champion community engagement and involvement, Best Sunshine International, Ltd.’s Corporate Social Responsibility has partnered with the non-profit Natibu Sports Association to host a 10-day summer program for children.

“It is great to partner with BSI who has championed community projects and enhanced efforts. On behalf of Natibu Sports Association and our president we want to thank Best Sunshine for this partnership and again bringing your help to our villages,” said NSA board member and Rep. George N. Camacho (R-Saipan).

The summer camp was launched yesterday, July 27, and will continue until Aug. 9 at the NSA headquarters in Tanapag. There are 32 children—ages 6 to 12—who have enlisted to participate in the summer camp.

The NSA camp is designed to encourage kids to stay busy during the summer before classes resume. Throughout the summer program, the kids-participants have the opportunity to learn about the different roles of various CNMI agencies, understanding culture, and participate in fun activities.

The camp has also designed a program that promotes awareness and prevention against delinquency and substance abuse.

“This is amazing news. As a member of NSA our focus has always been getting our community involved in our youth,” Camacho said.

The BSI-CSR team will be taking on the new role as the camp’s counselors. They will also spearhead multiple events for the kids primarily to encourage learning and staying active through indoor and outdoor activities.

BSI-CSR executive director Geri Dela Cruz said the staging of this event was a result of collaboration with Best Sunshine’s various community partners.

“Partnering with NSA for the annual summer camp is exciting for our CSR team,” said Dela Cruz

“What’s great about this undertaking is that we reached out to agencies and organizations that we have partnered with in the past and asked them to share their expertise with our children. Now, you can say that this year’s NSA summer camp is a collaboration with different community partners,” Dela Cruz added.

Among the activities planned by the BSI-CSR team includes tee-ball and softball day, water race and water-balloon competition, crafting, and cultural day. The cultural day celebration will highlight children-participants showcase of traditional dances, beading, and weaving.

The BSI-CSR team will also facilitate field trips and on-site visits by children to several government agencies and departments including the Carolinian Affairs Office, Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service, and the Division of Fish and Wildlife, among others.

“On behalf of NSA, BSI’s assistance and support in helping to keep our youth and community safe is very much appreciated,” said NSA board of director Vincent Camacho. “Our summer camp program this year would not be as successful without the great partnership that we have formed with the CSR team working with our community.”
