KagES releases sked for SY’16-‘17
Kagman Elementary School prinicipal Ignacia T. Demapan is welcoming parents and guardians of the school’s incoming students for school year 2016-2017. She said it’s the school’s pleasure to inform them of the following schedule:

• Aug. 11: Parent/student orientation for grades K-2nd, 10am-11am, cafeteria
• Aug. 12: Parent/student orientation for grades 3rd-5th, 10am-11am, cafeteria
• Aug. 15: First day of instruction for all students (K-5th), 7:30am- 2pm.

During the parent and student orientation day, the teachers will present to meet with parents and of share instructional goals and expectations for the school year.

“We hope that our great moms and dads will be able to attend the above scheduled event, so that, you will be knowledgeable of our school continuous improvement plans and to become our partners in your child(ren)’s education. If you have any questions please call us at 664-3911,” said Demapan

Military exercises at W-517 this Thursday
The CNMI Emergency Operations Center, in conjunction with U.S. Naval Forces Marianas (N3) Guam, would like to inform the general public that the U.S. military unit will be conducting military exercises at W-517 Irregular Poly-Gon south of Guam this July 28 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

Due to the danger imposed by these activities, acting governor Victor B. Hocog is strongly advising the general public especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators to stay away from these areas during the time and dates indicated.

The cooperation and understanding of the general public is greatly appreciated. One Guam Water Integration ribbon-cutting ceremony this Thursday
ASAN, Guam—Joint Region Marianas (JRM) and Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) will be hosting a One Guam Water Integration ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Tumon Maui Well in Upper Tumon, Thursday, July 28 from 10am to 11:30am.

The ceremony signifies the official reopening and leasing of the Navy’s Tumon Maui Well to GWA and affirms the Navy’s commitment to the One Guam pillar.

The well is a Maui-type water well that operates to skim underground fresh water from the thin basal layer. The well was constructed in 1947 and it accounted for a large portion of the water supply until its initial closure in 1995. It was then placed back into service for a short time then closed again in 1999. (PR)

Well, CNMI Motheread/Fatheread Family Literacy Program is pleased to offer a free Beginner’s Chamorro Literacy Class held at your friendly Joeten-Kiyu Public Library this summer!

Read and borrow books translated into Chamorro from our award-winning Motheread/Fatheread curriculum. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday for the month of July from 5pm to 6pm.
