One Guam Water Integration ribbon-cutting ceremony this Thursday
ASAN, Guam—Joint Region Marianas (JRM) and Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) will be hosting a One Guam Water Integration ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Tumon Maui Well in Upper Tumon, Thursday, July 28 from 10am to 11:30am.
The ceremony signifies the official reopening and leasing of the Navy’s Tumon Maui Well to GWA and affirms the Navy’s commitment to the One Guam pillar.
The well is a Maui-type water well that operates to skim underground fresh water from the thin basal layer. The well was constructed in 1947 and it accounted for a large portion of the water supply until its initial closure in 1995. It was then placed back into service for a short time then closed again in 1999. (PR)
