CCDF Program finally launches pilot QRIS

The Quality Rating and Improvement System or QRIS is a method to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality in early care and education and after-school settings.
As part of its ongoing high quality early care and education initiative, the Child Care and Development Fund or CCDF Program officially launched the Pilot QRIS on July 18, 2016, with an orientation of eight license center-based providers at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Hall.
A total of 46 directors, lead teachers, and caregivers participated in this one and half hour presentation. The orientation was headed by Evergreen Learning Inc.’s program manager Dr. Jasmin Jones who provided information on the standards and tools that will be used for the pilot. For this pilot initiative, the focus will be on infants, toddlers, and preschool classrooms. The pilot activity will run from July 2016 to May 2017.
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs representatives present at this orientation included Child Care Licensing Program supervisor Annie Santos, Licensing staff Leilani Marciano and Gregoria Somol, and Child Care and Development Fund Program administrator Maribel Loste, CCDF accountant Roselle Teregeyo, and CCDF health and safety inspector Rita Olopai.
