The Department of Public Safety yesterday identified T.J. Sablan as one of two masked men who was shot and wounded by an off-duty law enforcement officer for allegedly trying to steal his lawnmower at his residence in Koblerville.

DPS acting spokesman Jason Tarkong also confirmed that Sablan was arrested and that the case was forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General.

Tarkong refused to elaborate.

Tarkong earlier confirmed about the burglary that resulted to injury at the law enforcement officer’s house last Friday early morning.

Tarkong then stated that he would release more details about the incident when DPS commissioner Robert Guerrero would give him the go signal.

Sources said it was a 25-year-old Department of Corrections officer who shot Sablan on the leg.

Sources said the officer was sleeping at his house when he was awakened by noise at 3am.

The officer saw two masked men who tried to steal his lawnmower and confronted them.

One of the masked men got into “an incident” with the officer, sources said.
