Nami Restaurant serving up locally sourced ingredients

Nami Restaurant, a small yet energetic restaurant right in the heart of Garapan, is serving locally sourced Certified Angus Beef in its dishes like the famous Beef Curry and Gyūdon bowls.

The owner, Osamu Taniguchi, first came to Saipan in 1992 from Tokyo, Japan. Being the owner of three successful restaurants, he decided to open Nami in 2013, which originally served more traditional French-inspired dishes such as pork satay and French style steak.

After Typhoon Soudelor, Nami was forced to close for repairs as they had no power or water. After clearing the debris, Taniguchi decided to change the concept of Nami to include more local flavors. He added the Beef Curry to the menu three weeks after reopening and now it’s the most popular dish on the menu.

“Taniguchi San’s passion for using local produce and products in his dishes is directly aligned with the Certified Angus Beef brand,” said Jay Santos, general manager of Five Star Wholesale Foods and Triple J Saipan Truckload store. “He’s a really inspiring restaurant owner.”

Taniguchi stated, “I want to serve the freshest ingredients at all my restaurants. Certified Angus Beef is the best, that’s why I use it at Casa Urashima, Grotto, and Nami Restaurant.”

Nami is open from 11am to 2pm for lunch and 5pm to 9pm for dinner. With their extensive menu, which includes, tuna and rice bowls as well as braised short ribs and Gyūdon bowls, Nami joins the elite and growing restaurant group serving Certified Angus Beef on Saipan.
