An off-duty law enforcement officer shot and injured one of two masked men who allegedly burglarized his house in Koblerville and tried to steal his lawnmower and car on Friday early morning.

Police Officer Jason Tarkong yesterday confirmed about the burglary that resulted to injury.

Tarkong said he would not confirm whether a gun was involved until Department of Public Safety Commissioner Robert A. Guerrero approved the release of the report.

Tarkong said he will release more details such as the name of the victim and the suspect when commissioner Guerrero would give him the go signal.

Guerrero is currently off-island.

Sources said shot on the leg is a son of a member of the House of Representatives.

Sources said the 25-year-old Corrections officer was sleeping at his house when he was awakened by noise at 3am.

The officer saw two masked men who tried to steal his lawnmower and confronted them.

One of the masked men got into “an incident” with the officer, sources said.
