Army Reserve Center to have groundbreaking today
The 9th Mission Support Command (Pacific Army Reserve) will conduct a groundbreaking ceremony at the Saipan U.S. Army Reserve Center, Building F, Industrial Drive, today, July 11, at 10am.
The ceremony commemorates the facility revitalization project of the Saipan USAR Center and construction of an Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) facility.
Brig. Gen. Stephen K. Curda, Commanding General, 9th Mission Support Command, will host the event. Ceremony guest speakers are scheduled to include: Lt. Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Victor B. Hocog; Brig. Gen. Curda; Capt. Stephanie Jones, Regional Engineer, Joint Region Marianas; and Rick Fair, AAFES Regional manager for Guam, Saipan, and Korea.
The Theater Support Group (TSG) – Pacific, headquartered at Fort Shafter Flats, Hawaii is providing oversight of the construction project. The TSG provides continuous base operations sustainment, facility maintenance management and Soldier support to enhance the 9th MSC readiness throughout the United States Army Pacific Command area of responsibility. The facility revitalization and AAFES construction projects are expected to be complete by March of 2017.
The 9th MSC is the most ethnically diverse, geographically dispersed command in the U.S. Army Reserve, crossing seven times zones, two states, two territories, a commonwealth and two foreign countries. Its Soldiers speak 29 different languages. It is the only Army Reserve unit to be directly assigned to an Army Service Component Command (U.S. Army Pacific). (PR)
