More than 300 Northwest Island residents of Chuuk, including those born and residing on Saipan, received post Typhoon Soudelor food relief from Federated States of Micronesia Congressman Robson Romolow this month, said the Office of the Governor yesterday.

Congressman Romolow contributed $15,000 to the Northwest Island residents in the care of Namon Taipung Association (NTA), a CNMI chartered and 501c designated non-profit organization overseeing the needs of the residents of the Northwest Islands.

The funds were paid directly to Joeten Superstore this month for the residents to obtain food items as part of FSM Congressman Romolow’s contribution to those affected by Typhoon Soudelor, said the Office of the Governor in a statement.

“We are very grateful to Congressman Romolow and are humbled by this humane gesture. For us, it’s the thought that counts,” said NTA president Jimmy G. Sablan.

The Northwest Islands includes the atolls of Fananu, Murilo, Nomwin, Ruo, Magur, Onari, Ono, Pisarach, Ulul, Pollap, Polowot, Pulusuk, and Tamatam.
